Join us on our visit to the Zimmerli Art Museum, one of the largest and most distinguished university-based museums in the country, located on the New Brunswick campus of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.

The museum collects, preserves, researches, and exhibits world-class works of art in a 70,000-square-foot facility that houses more than 60,000 works of art, with strengths in the Art of the Americas, Asian Art, European Art, Russian Art & Soviet Nonconformist Art, and Original Illustrations for Children’s Literature.

Current exhibitions include:

* Alonzo Adams: A Griot’s Vision (Feb. 25 is the last day of this exhibition). Inspiring words from Maya Angelou on finding his artistic voice led Adams to travel widely—to Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, and throughout America in search of life experiences. This exhibition includes work fresh from the artist’s studio and important paintings that have already been purchased by some of his many collectors, and is a homecoming for the artist, who earned his BFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts in 1984. A griot is a storyteller whose works aspire to capture and immortalize contemporary Black experience.

* Our Place in the World: Children’s Illustrations by Juana Martinez-Neal

* Jim Toia: Notes on Threatened Landscapes

and more, along with a variety of permanent collections.

Admission is free to all, and our visit is open to all ages. The Museum is a short walk from the NJ Transit New Brunswick train station. Metered parking is available in front of the museum and other adjacent streets; additional paid parking is available in the Gateway Center Parking Garage. Find full info on public transportation, directions and parking here. Info on accessible entrances and parking is here.

We’ll meet at 1:30 PM in the front lobby. Call or text Lisa Ridge at 732-425-5233 to let her know you’re coming or if you’ll be late. Keep in touch if you want to join the group.
