The American Humanist Association is asking that we contact our representatives now to urge them to co-sponsor and support the Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency Act (HR 7647) that would establish a code of conduct for SCOTUS justices and federal judges; institute SCOTUS gift, reimbursement, and income disclosure requirements; require recusal under specified circumstances; impose a ‘duty to know’ and ‘duty to notify’; and establish review panels for consideration of motions to disqualify. This legislation is needed to ensure one of our country’s most important and powerful institutions is transparent, accountable, and fair.
