We can support incarcerated humanists during the holidays with AHA’s help

From the American Humanist Association:

The end of the year can be especially difficult for incarcerated people away from family and friends and uncomfortable with their facility’s religious celebrations. Help us spread some cheer by sending season’s greetings from a fellow humanist.

Throughout the year, thAmerican Humanist Association supports incarcerated people who identify as humanist, atheist, agnostic, and non-religious by providing them with AHA membership opportunities, literature, humanist pen pals, and assistance in forming humanist groups. They love hearing from other humanists, so please join our holiday letter campaign:

  1. Volunteer to send letters by emailing HumanismForAll@americanhumanist.org by December 20 to be matched with one or more of our incarcerated humanist members.
  2. Print one of our secular holiday letters, or use a white sheet of paper, and add a nice greeting from you. You may hand-write your note or type text directly into the PDF’s editable text block. Facilities will NOT accept cards, colored paper, stickers, attachments, or glitter.
  3. Mail to recipient facility with AHA office as return address: Your Name, American Humanist Association, 1821 Jefferson Place, Washington, DC 20036 (so we can handle issues and bounces).
  4. EmaiHumanismForAll@americanhumanist.org when the letter is mailed or if you aren’t able to send a letter.
  5. Consider completing this pen pal survey to be matched with one or more incarcerated humanists looking for ongoing correspondence. All correspondences must go directly between pen pals, not through the AHA office, via snail mail or prison email system.

Thank you and happy holidays!
