NJHN Summer Picnic at Duke Island Park on Aug. 18, 12-5 PM

We invite you to join us for our Summer Picnic on Sunday, August 18, 12-5 PM, at the Oak Grove Pavilion, Duke Island Park, Old York Road, Bridgewater. This is a great time to visit with old friends, make some new ones, and support our Humanist group!

You can bring your own lunch and drinks, and a side dish or dessert to share. We’ll provide paper products, utensils, grill utensils and charcoal, water, and ice.

Cost is FREE, but donations are welcome. RSVP by August 17 by email to let us know how many people are coming.

PLEASE NOTE: Somerset County parks do not allow alcohol.

* We have a covered pavilion so we won’t cancel due to rain.
* Wear your favorite freethought apparel.
* Dogs permitted, must be friendly and on a leash. Bring water and food for your dog.

* Bring:
> your favorite picnic party or grass games and get to know your fellow Humanists.
> a friend who has expressed an interest in Humanism.
> your walking shoes and your bikes.
> lawn chairs if you want to sit in the sun outside the shelter.
> your musical instruments and a few songs to share.
> leftover containers — we always have leftovers!

* Details about park activities can be found at the park’s website.

All of our programs and other activities — including the picnic shelter reservation — are made possible by our members’ financial support. And we thank you! You can become a member now at our Membership page.

Oak Grove Picnic Area is area 4 on park map — look for NJHN signs. Parking in areas B, C or D.

UPDATE: NJHN will be supporting a hygiene product drive at the picnic. Learn more about it here. Free tampons seem to be big news these days, let’s jump on that wagon!

AND we’ll be working on a 30th Anniversary project with a video “booth” asking folks what NJHN has meant to them and what they hope to see in the future. We’ll make a video for social media!
