This month we’ll watch a video of a presentation by Professor Robin May on the topic of Evolution Tomorrow and Beyond that he gave at Gresham College (London) on May 8, 2024.
After a brief review of how evolution works, Prof. May discusses the effects of climate change, humans’ accidental impact on animal evolution, pandemics, bacterial resistance to antibiotics, survival through better immune systems, being antisocial, and being violent, gene editing to prevent disease and cosmetic gene editing in utero, human evolution beyond Earth, and more, plus a Q&A session.
Professor Robin May is the Gresham Professor of Physic, Chief Scientific Adviser at the Food Standards Agency (FSA) with the UK Government, Professor of Infectious Disease at the University of Birmingham, and a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and the American Academy of Microbiology.
