We invite you to join us for our Annual Picnic on Saturday, September 26, 12-5 PM, at the Knob Hill Pavilion, Colonial Park, 156 Mettlers Road, Somerset. This is a great time to visit with old friends, make some new ones, and support our Humanist group!
Bring your own lunch and drinks, as well as a side dish or dessert to share. We’ll provide plates, bowls, utensils, grill utensils and charcoal, water, and ice.
Cost is FREE, but donations are welcome. RSVP below by September 25 to let us know how many people are coming.
PLEASE NOTE: Somerset County parks do not allow alcohol.
* We have a covered pavilion — we will only cancel if severe storms with lightning are forecast (due to metal picnic tables).
* Wear your favorite freethought apparel.
* Dogs permitted, must be friendly and on a leash. Bring water and food for your dog.
* Bring:
> your favorite picnic party or grass games and get to know your fellow Humanists.
> a friend who has expressed an interest in Humanism.
> your walking shoes and your bikes.
> lawn chairs if you want to sit in the sun outside the shelter.
> your musical instruments and a few songs to share.
> leftover containers — we always have leftovers!
* Details about park activities can be found at Colonial Park’s website. There are many activities that will still be open this last weekend in September, such as Miniature Golf, Paddleboats and Spray Park (for children only). Some of these have fees, so check the links for costs. There are also a variety of gardens, hiking and fitness trails, tennis and bocce courts, dog park, and playground areas.
All of our programs and other activities — including the picnic shelter reservation — are made possible by our members’ financial support. And we thank you! You can become a member now at our Membership page.
Knob HIll Picnic Grove is area 4 on park map — look for NJHN signs. Parking in area C.
