The New Jersey Humanist Network is a vibrant and growing community of secular humanists. Humanism is a democratic and ethical life-stance,
which affirms that human beings have the right and responsibility to give meaning and shape to their own lives. We believe that virtues
like morality, kindness, justice and generosity derive from natural human values and reason, and are realized fully only when free from belief
in supernatural powers and a spiritual afterlife. Please consider joining us for our free monthly meetings in Franklin Township.
Bill Baird on reproductive freedom.
Baird discussed his personal experiences, especially
the risks he took and the indignities he suffered while trying to
change the laws against distribution of birth control information
and parental notification requirements for abortion procedures.
Bill also presented his unique and fresh perspective
on the Catholic Church as a lobbying organization for a foreign
government. His viewpoint was underscored by the recent news about
American bishops' discussion of penalities they would apply to Catholic
legislators who vote for pro-choice legislation.
